Tom is a founding partner of MacNell Accounting & Consulting. He graduated in 1978 from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce Degree. Tom is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois C.P.A. Society and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
Tom has extensive audit and tax experience concerning closely held businesses in a variety of areas. The commercial entities include manufacturing companies, distribution companies and construction companies. He has also worked with labor unions, employees benefit plans, tax exempt entities, and individuals. The small business services he has provided include audits, reviews and other attest services along with tax services. Employee benefit funds consist of multi-employer welfare funds and pension funds as well as single employer plans covered by ERISA. Tom’s not-for-profit experience includes labor unions as well as charitable foundations and other tax-exempt associations. Tom has been involved with small and medium size businesses for virtually his entire career.
As the partner in charge of the firm’s professional services rendered to these clients, Tom is uniquely experienced in identifying and resolving problems associated with audit and tax issues. Tom’s experience also includes extensive dealings with the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor.
